Look at the picture. What have the students made, and what do you think it is for?
Look, name, and explain what you see — then add one detail nobody else would notice.

In the picture, the students have made a large handmade farewell card, which is opened out on a classroom desk. It is covered in handwritten messages and small drawings from many different people, and coloured pens and erasers are scattered around it from the work. Two students are standing beside the desk, looking at what has been written. I think it is for a teacher who is leaving, because the writing on the board behind them appears to be a farewell message.
Describes the card thoroughly and uses the board in the background as evidence for who it is for.

- Point to what you see"In the picture, I can see…" — name two or three specific things, not just one.
- Explain what is happening"It looks like… because…" — link what you see to why it is happening.
- Add one closer detail"What I also noticed is…" — this is what lifts a plain answer into a strong one.
